BUILDING THE HOME

God is the builder of the home, and we work with God as secondary builders. Our efforts are only fruitful and rewarding when we acknowledge God and depend upon Him. Children are a blessing to the home.

Home is a place where life is nurtured and love is given and received. It is a place where rest and true security is found. It is a place where life’s lessons including the fear of God, respect for human life, honor, faithfulness, patience, self-control, order, and any godly virtue is taught. Home is where life’s meaning and the reason for our existence is discovered. The virtues that constitute a home is found only in God. Largely, in His dealing with humanity God often starts with a home and then a tribe, then a nation and then the world.

In Psalm 127:1-5, Except the LORD build the house, they labour in vain that build it: except the LORD keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain. It is vain for you to rise up early, to sit up late, to eat the bread of sorrows: for so he giveth his beloved sleep. Lo, children are an heritage of the LORD: and the fruit of the womb is his reward. As arrows are in the hand of a mighty man; so are children of the youth. Happy is the man that hath his quiver full of them: they shall not be ashamed, but they shall speak with the enemies in the gate.

Home cannot exist apart from God. Wealth, education, social status, and hard work do not in themselves build a home. Sadly, since ancient time people had thought that amassing wealth, attaining social status, and working hard may build them a home, but only to realize the emptiness of their pursuit. The wisest and the wealthiest man that ever lived proved from his observations and pursuits that without God (In the Home) human effort is empty. He married three hundred wives, and had seven hundred mistresses but he did not have a home. His son could not retain his Kingdom and he died torn between God and worldly pursuits. If Jesus is in your life then He must be in your home, and you must acknowledge Him in the way you treat your spouse, your children, and in your willingness to obey His word.

God is the one that can truly protect the home. Thank God for all the home security cameras and apparatus that we have today. However, only God can watch over our home and protect us from plots of both evil people and wicked spirits. Whether the home is attacked by depression, confusion, division, sickness or material lose only God can keep us save. For those that put their trust in Him and acknowledge Him in their homes He said, “No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, and their righteousness is of me, saith the LORD” Isaiah 54:17.

Home is a place of rest. When we learn to cease from our godless efforts and, instead, trust in His ability to provide, protect and prosper us we will experience true rest, “for so he gives his beloved sleep.” Again, children are a blessing to the home. They are neither a burden nor destructive to the home. Rather, they are the defenders of the home. They extend the home from one generation to another.

It is no surprise that the enemy spends more than ninety percent of his efforts to tear down homes. Your home is too important to leave it to the world system and not with Christ. allow God’s reign in your home by inviting Him to come into your life and surrendering your home to His leading. Your Home will be peaceful, protected, and prosperous!
