DEATH IS NOT THE END

Since the dawn of time people had struggled with life’s difficulties and several people rich and poor, educated and less educated, old and young, men and women alike had pondered whether death could bring an end to their misery.

Obviously, there are different kinds of life’s difficulties and they are uncountable.   For example, let us consider people whose difficulties had to do with health. There are those who are suffering from poor physical health as a result of an inherited disease, birth defect, infection, an accident, aging and others. Many of these people had under gone almost any known procedure for cure but to no avail. As a result, some had lost their mobility and their condition had forced them to the uncomfortable state of someone bathing, feeding, and caring for them. Above all, some live in constant pain every minute of their lives. Disappointed about their condition and discouraged about any chances of healing some had concluded that life is not worth living, and that they would be better off dead than to be alive.

Truly, my heart goes out to anyone dealing with such difficulty at any level, as well as to spouses and family members that care for the sick and provide them with the necessary comfort measures. I think true religion compels everyone to pray for those in this kind of situation in spite of our own challenges. While going through mental agony and confusion due to their failing health condition, some had been encouraged by their loved ones, family members, and caregivers to seek peace and rest through death by ending their lives.

However, death might not provide the rest and peace that many had hoped for during suffering. The Lord Jesus, said, a certain man died, and immediately, the dead man opened his eyes in hell and was in torment (Luke 16:23). Death is only the door way into another state of life. Thus, the death of our physical bodies does not mean cessation of life. The human soul lives on with or without the physical body. The soul is either received into the presence of God or banished to a place of torment. Human beings do not die and disappear from existence as it is with animals. “It is appointed unto man once to die, and after that judgment.” Remember, the Lord Jesus Christ taught and preached about life after death more than all of the apostles combined.

Thus, we are both encouraged and cautioned to remember to make peace with our creator while we have the opportunity, and before it is too late (Ecclesiastes 12). You can call upon God on your own. Invite Jesus to come into your life to forgive you of your sin and become your Lord and savior. Scripture reading.
